Seaport Music Series

WHO:             Indie-rockers Bear in Heaven and Zola Jesus

WHAT:           The 2010 River To River Festival continues with an indie-rock double bill from the Seaport Music Series

WHEN: Friday, July 9, 6:00 pm
WHERE: South Street Seaport, Pier 17
WHY: The River To River Festival, New York’s largest free summer arts festival, continues its Seaport Music Series with Bear in Heaven. The Brooklyn-based band, comprised entirely of Southern transplants, crafts psychedelic, minimalist pop tunes out of endless hours of stream-of-conscious musical meandering by members Jon Philpot, Adam Wills, Sadek Bazaraa, and Joe Stickney.
The result has been described as “a powerful, functional mix of This Heat, 70s soft rock, early Genesis, and oddly, later Pink Floyd.” With special guest Zola Jesus.
The concert is part of the Seaport Music Series, which is presented by the River To River Festival, New York’s largest free summer arts festival.
With tall ships as the backdrop, the series continues each Friday, showcasing rising and established indie music stars including Yellow Fever and Woven Bones (July 2), Thee Oh Sees with Golden Triangle and So Cow (July 16),Free Energy and Best Coast with Loose Limbs (July 23), Avi Buffalo and Chad VanGaalen (July 30), and YACHT (August 6).
