Friends and familiars believe that I am a style maven who meticulously edits a well-maintained, fashion-forward closet and a design-conscious home, and I totally do. I’ll spend some serious scratch on important pieces that I know will continue to look great after years of use (Tod’s handbag, Starck chair), signature pieces with special details you fall in love with. But among the D&G, I’ll admit there’s some H&M, and there’s no greater thrill than grabbing a good deal.

My new favorite shopping destination for unique home furnishings is Anthropologie, but more specifically, the back right corner of the SoHo Anthropologie. And this is key! Hidden behind a corner, just before the dressing rooms, is a good size nook chock full of severely reduced pillows, luxe quilts, sheets, door pulls, salt & pepper shakers, dish towels, aprons, and… are you getting the idea?

Unlike the other Anthropologies in New York, this one is a bit off the beaten path, so it’s shelves aren’t plundered the way the Rock Plaza and the Union Square shops are. You stand a good chance of getting a complete bedding suite (duvet, shams, sheets) at a deep discount without spending extra scratch on shipping.

Last month, I picked up a silk damask lamp shade for $48, marked down from $128. Last week, I scored a queen-sized bedskirt, like this, but green, 50% off. Even the sales clerk was shocked. “Wow! That’s cheap!” Totally.
