Dating in New York City – Holding Hans with Brian Hansbury: Bros Before Hos?

Posted Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 at 4:08 pm by Brian in Social Bees. More in 10014

Q: My boyfriend just moved to LA for six months. Already two of his best friends, guys he’s known forever, have asked me out on dates. Do I tell my boyfriend and ruin his friendships?

A: Your boyfriend’s friends seem like d-bags of the highest order. What really bugs me about your situation is that these guys think they could get away with something so preposterous and audacious. Is your boyfriend best friends with Karl Rove and Dick Cheney?

I’ve always subscribed to bro’s before ho’s and I view this situation in the same way. Your boyfriend is your bro. He gives you noogies, farts in your face and bangs you. Some days you hate him, others days you love him and don’t know what you’d do without his support or his fake ID. Your man’s friends are no good man whores. A guy wants to believe he can trust his friends to protect his girlfriend while he’s away, not try to enter her. Even if he knows his friends are d-bags, he at least expects them to respect his relationship. If they can’t even do that it may be time to find some new friends. So, yes, you should tell your boyfriend.

After all, you’re not worried about being friends with these idiots after the smoke clears. They were your man’s stupid friends in the first place. Think of this as an awesome opportunity to further control your boyfriend’s life and force him to spend more time with you. You go, girl.
