Missed Connection

With Valentine’s day right around the corner love is obviously on the brain and your friendly neighborhood gay bee is no different. Once again, I will be without a true Valentine even though I started off the year with three potential suitors. Obviously life happens the way it is suppose to and when one door is closed, another opens… I guess that’s what they say. Last week something pretty spectacular happened. Something I’ve attempted to explain to my sisters and they simply did not understand how big a deal this truly is… but I will now tell you and you will see this is kinda a big deal!

Late Thursday night, after an enjoyable happy hour, I was traveling back home to my hive with a lady friend. This friend and I were chatting about this, that and whatever until she bid adieu and exited at her stop. I still had roughly eight more stops to go, so I decided to sit. While I was standing chatting with my friend, I did notice a friendly face of a stranger sitting near us. So, instead of sitting away from this friendly face, I popped a squat right next to him, even though the entire bench was empty. I could tell he wanted to make conversation, but I wasn’t 100% sure of this until he eventually worked up enough courage to say hello and mentioned something about the winter weather. I made reference to how hard it is to look cute when it is so darn cold outside and he agreed. We chatted for another few stops and I thought for sure he was going to exit at the same stop I was, but unfortunately he got off one stop prior to mine. I thought I detected on his face a slight disappointment when I didn’t exit the train at his station, but he reached out his hand and introduced himself. I returned the hand shake and said, “Maybe I’ll see you again sometime!”

Now, flash forward to the following night. Whenever I have a free moment I like to check out Craigslist’s Missed Connections. For those not aware of what these are, they are basically postings to that random stranger who smiles at you while you’re running at the gym or who held the elevator for you and you thought there might be a potential love connection. Basically I check the missed connections like it’s my job! I don’t know why, but I think it’s because I secretly wish someone is longing to meet up with me and will post about it. Friday night my wish came true! My subway stranger made a posting about our encounter and our brief conversation in the hopes that I remembered and was also interested! (Obviously I was interested, otherwise I wouldn’t have held the conversation in the first place!) So what we have here ladies and gentlemen, is the neighborbeeblog version of last year’s Patrick Moberg and Camille Hayton! I emailed him and we’ve been going back and forth a few times and are attempting to get together soon.

Curious to know how you can find that subway stranger that totally undressed you with his eyes and you weren’t creeped out by it? Check out Are you wondering whether the guy in the next cubicle has feelings for you or not, maybe he’s posted them over at Missed Kisses. Or if you’re looking for a second chance after that first glance, visit Kizmeet. And I’ll definitely be keeping you updated on the Subway Stranger saga… also in case you’re wondering, Hot Bartender makes his long awaited return to the big apple in a little over a week. Now the fun begins!! Happy Valentine’s Day one and all!
