Gay Life – The Paulinator: The Holy Trinity

Posted Monday, November 10th, 2008 at 9:00 am by paul in Social Bees. More in 10001

Holy Trinity!

It’s sometimes said that, in New York City, you can have a good job, a good apartment and a good companion—but not all three at the same time.

This saying appeared on Sex and the City and while I don’t know if it is an absolute, I certainly know it to be true in my own life.  I have yet to experience all three and currently I only have one, hence the reason I’ve been MIA for a week now.

I was in the process of putting my Upper East Side apartment on Craigslist and hoping someone would want to sublet it while I move out to Queens and attempt to save some money. This is definitely a drastic move, but so far everything has worked out nicely, minus the lack of posting here and on my own blog. While I was putting my apartment up on Craigslist and hoping that some nice, wonderful person would see it, contact me and be essentially an answered prayer, I got to thinking… what if the person I find is completely crazy and comes to the apartment to view it and turns out to be a serial killer.

I think my thinking is a bit backwards in this because I have a great time participating in the hunt for my next bed-mate online with no reservations.  This though, seemed to scare the figurative pants off me. Regardless, I was able to find that answer prayer and thus far we’ve been smooth sailing.

So, let’s recap: I’ve got a good job, I now have a good apartment (albeit its in the basement of my friend’s house) and next on the list is finding that good companion without messing up the first two.

I made mention last time about the possibility of hooking back up with my first. I gave into temptation to see what would happen and he e-mailed me back! Shocker! A lot has changed in the years since The DeVirginator and I last got together. I like to think of myself as a bit more mature and even more experienced than before. I never once really thought of us as couple, he was just a nice guy that helped to fulfill that need.

Where do I see this going now? That all depends. According to the last e-mail he makes mention that “coffee and/or ‘other’ sounds great.” The term ‘other’ was in response to my not so subtle way of asking if he wanted to have sex again. His e-mail made no mention of a boyfriend, but I thought I would clarify with a subtle hint.

If he turns out not to be the good companion to complete the trio, I will be ok with that, because there is nothing wrong with a taking your time to find an absolutely perfect Mr. Right, by testing all the Mr. Wrongs and Mr. Right Nows.
