Gay Life – The Paulinator: The Manhunt Begins

Posted Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at 9:00 am by paul in Social Bees. More in 10019

Calling all men!

Several months back I made the conscious effort to stop denying my sexual orientation and admit to myself and to the world around me that I am gay! This whole process has opened my eyes to the city in such an interested and excited way; it is a whole new chapter in my life!

And that is what this column will be about, that new chapter! So hello, my name is Paul and you can think of me your gay BFF! I’m going to give you the scoop on what is happening in the gay scene these days and do my best to share with you stories about gay life in the city, taking you from my discreet Manhunt hookups, gay outings to bars and clubs and potentially finding my first relationship.

Don’t worry though, I’ll be protecting the innocent and even those not so innocent, but all in all, this column will hopefully inspire you to live your life proudly in the city that will always love you!

Let’s begin with a recent story… After partying with my co-workers until about 11 or so on Friday, I decide to head over to Hell’s Kitchen and check out Therapy. I’ve started to venture there more often these days and every time I end up there, the scene’s always different. Last Friday the scene seemed to be made up of couples, so I finished up my drink and headed home.

In my Upper East Side neighborhood, there is a dive bar called The Toolbox where I have on several occasions done some last minute clearance shopping to see if there is anyone worth taking home. Friday night, this is where I ended up and this is where I found someone. This situation had the potential to be really awkward for both of us, but sadly, the gentleman who I was talking with completely forgot that we met up (via Craigslist) roughly a year and half ago to have sex… on two different occasions! Of course I remembered, but sadly he didn’t and even though I still went back to his apartment I can only hope there is a look of shock on his face when he enters in my number into his cell and sees that it is already programmed! It definitely made for an eventful and exciting start to the weekend!

It’s a small taste of what’s to come with the Paulinator!

TTFN!
