New York City Music Scene: The Sweet Beat: Painting New York Green (City and Colour Concert)

Posted Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 at 2:32 pm by Carlos in Healthy Bees. More in 10001

As an avid music fan you learn to appreciate artists that are seemingly one of a kind. Dallas Green is one of those musicians that leave you wanting more. Now I’ve been a fan of his since he was the lead singer of Canadian hardcore band Alexisonfire and I continue to become more fascinated.

City and Colour's Bring Me Your Love

As mentioned in a previous entry, he performed at the Bowery Ballroom last Monday and Tuesday. I was able to attend the show on Tuesday and it was incredible. The night was filled with trendy New York socialites mesmerized by Dallas’ up tempo folk rock. Looking at the technical aspect of his music, Dallas creates beautiful melodies on his guitar and occasionally adds an energizing harmonica. But his lyrics alone are enough to have you realize he is the quintessential musician. If you don’t believe me go listen to ‘Waiting…”, “Sometimes (I Wish)”, or “Sleeping Sickness” and tell me how you feel afterward. You should check out his latest album, City and Colour.

Before I end this week’s entry, I want you to promise me two things: seriously check out Dallas’ music and be sure not to miss the The Killers’ concert at Madison Square Garden this Sunday, January 25th.
